Who will be the winner of the GENCA Writer’s Award in 2026?

The Endomed-sponsored GENCA Writers Award recognises the most outstanding article published in J.GENCA over a twelve‑month period, acknowledging contributions that are relevant, evidence-based and valuable to the broader gastroenterology nursing community.

As GENCA’s peer-reviewed journal, J.GENCA plays a key role in sharing knowledge across clinical practice, research and education — ensuring good ideas don’t stay local, but reach the wider profession.

Spotlight: 2025 Winner

Last year’s winner was Caroline Ellyard-Ayers, recognised for the article “Avoiding inadvertent hypothermia in the endoscopy unit” (Vol 33 No 3), pictured above. It’s a strong example of what the award is designed to highlight — practical, clinically relevant work that contributes to safer care and better outcomes. Why this matters — and why we support it

The GENCA National Conference brings nurses and industry together to inspire ideas, share experience and drive improvement across the specialty. The Writers Award sits naturally within that — recognising those who take the extra step to reflect on their work and share it in a way others can learn from.

“GENCA has built a strong, practical community of gastroenterology nurses, and we’re proud to stand alongside that. Supporting the Writers Award is one way we can recognise the knowledge and leadership that comes from the clinical front line — and help ensure those insights are shared widely.” Leigh Johnson, Endomed Director Sales and Marketing

Supporting the people behind progress

The strength of GENCA has always been its community — clinicians who not only deliver care, but contribute to improving it. The J. GENCA Writers Award recognises that contribution.

For Endomed, supporting it is a simple and meaningful extension of the role we already play — working alongside clinicians, listening, and backing the people who help move practice forward.

The winner of this year’s $3000 prize will be announced at the GENCA Awards Presentation at the National Conference May 15-17 2026.
